Q: Are tickets required for the installation ceremony?

A: Due to the limited amount of seating in Dodd Auditorium, reservations are required. Tickets will not be distributed, but a guest list will be maintained at the entrance to the auditorium.

Q: Why do I need to register?

A: The registration process helps the planning committee with organization and planning.

Q: Where should I park?

A: The invitation packet contains directions to the parking deck. That is the preferred parking location. Directions to the parking deck may also be found at http://inauguration.umw.edu/maps-directions-and-parking/.

Q: I am traveling from out of town, where should I stay?

A: Hotels with rooms blocked for inauguration guests are listed on http://inauguration.umw.edu/travel/. Also, the Fredericksburg area has a wide variety of accommodations available in addition to those listed in the invitation packet. Please see the area’s tourism site at www.visitfred.com.

Q: What is happening in addition to the installation ceremony?

A: A reception for all guests will be held on the Lee Hall Plaza immediately following the ceremony. Later that evening the Presidential Inaugural Ball will take place in the newly opened William M. Anderson Center. Tickets for the ball are will be available for purchase via this website beginning August 19, 2011.

Q: How long is the installation ceremony?

A: The ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes, and will be followed by a reception.

Q: What are the weather plans for the inauguration?

A: The installation ceremony is being held indoors in George Washington Hall, Dodd Auditorium. In the event of inclement weather, the reception will be moved to the interior of Lee Hall.
